SOFT EDGE — CONSCIOUS LIGHT INSTALLATION

Soft Edge is an ‘aware’ ambient light installation for Hito op Scheveningen. The work connects time, space, and orientation, creating a living milestone between the harbour of Scheveningen and the sea. A place where, for centuries, fishermen have navigated by the horizon, light, and the passage of time.

The object forms a bond with the natural rhythms of its immediate environment and surroundings. A conscious design that blends elemental cycles with technology. The system collects gradients and colours from the horizon throughout the year, building a living archive of its gathered input. Drawing on natural forces such as tide and wind, it translates these colours into a graphical interpretation that radiates through the venue. Because the input is constantly shifting, the light, colours, and patterns are never the same.
