PURE — NTS RADIO X SLAM JAM

Together with Pure Collective, Slam Jam, and NTS Radio, I designed the scenography and spatial plan for their ambient show on the beach during sunset.

The design took its main reference from the iconic red harbour light in Scheveningen. A red-and-white striped hexagonal tower, set on a concrete pier, formed the centrepiece of the installation. These shapes and colours were subtly carried throughout the event, creating a visual connection between the scenography and the harbour light in the background.

Soft Edge is an ‘aware’ ambient light installation for Hito op Scheveningen. The work connects time, space, and orientation, creating a living milestone between the harbour of Scheveningen and the sea. A place where, for centuries, fishermen have navigated by the horizon, light, and the passage of time.

The object forms a bond with the natural rhythms of its immediate environment and surroundings. A conscious design that blends elemental cycles with technology. The system collects gradients and colours from the horizon throughout the year, building a living archive of its gathered input. Drawing on natural forces such as tide and wind, it translates these colours into a graphical interpretation that radiates through the venue. Because the input is constantly shifting, the light, colours, and patterns are never the same.
